It's October!
During small group, I had my students review all the Short vowel sounds. Every group is on a slightly different level. The majority of the students are on the same level. They worked very hard today during the short vowel sound lesson!

The students wrote words from a list of October words that Mrs. G has hanging in the classroom. A lot of the stories were related to spooky Halloween! EEK!

I have connected with my students through Music. Today during Math we were working with cups and counters. The concept of how many were left was the topic of the conversation. The students began playing with their cups. One student asked if I knew the cup song from Pitch Perfect. I told the students that if they did a really nice job and worked hard during Math, then I would sing and play the cup song. Well, first grade did an excellent job! Once Math was over and the materials were cleaned up, I performed the cup song. The students were very impressed and asked if I would sing it again. I had to bribe them a little and tell them that if tomorrow goes as well as today did, then I would consider performing again. ;)
