Jamaica day 4

Well we definitely aren't use to being woken up by chickens screeching... But we'll forgive them for the eggs!
Last night as my roommate and I were going to bed, the power went out! It was extremely dark!! The term "pitch black" was definitely experienced!

We are heading to Montego Bay to visit two elementary schools today.

The first elementary school we arrived at today was a school for students with disabilities. The school was located in Lucea. When we arrived, the children were outside playing! The students and I jumped right in. We had a blast singing songs and taking pictures. I had a student who really enjoyed taking pictures. I put the camera around his neck and showed him how to take pictures. He had the biggest smile on his face.

My roommate, another colleague of ours and I were able to teach a couple lessons to the older students. There ages ranged from 14 years old to 22 years old in the classroom. We had them ask us any questions about America and the reasons behind why we came to Jamaica. The students were extremely sweet and the teachers made us feel so welcomed.

We engaged in many songs and even one of my colleagues was able to create a communication system for a student who was severely disabled. It brought tears to our eyes as she taught him a way to say 'yes' and 'no'. I  can speak on behalf of the entire SP-ED department when I say that we had the most amazing morning.

We then headed to another elementary school in Montego Bay. When we arrived, the students were also outside enjoying the sun. We were able to watch the students engage in outside play with exercises and then watched as they got ready for their sports week which is coming up next week.

Both schools gave us some much experience and a lifelong memories.

After the schools, we headed to Roaring River where we climbed in a large cave and got scrubbed down with sulfur in mineral water. The pictures of the cave and the way our skin felt after was incredible!! We enjoyed being in a man-made cave!

We are heading back to the AOC to partake in reggae night! This will be fun!

We are blessed for this experience and couldn't ask for a better time here!
