Jamaica day 3

Another wonderful breakfast!
Our house mother is a wonderful cook.

Once we left our houses we drove in a van to the Llandilo School of children with special needs. The children's disabilities ranged from pre-k to ninth grade.

The students in the first classroom that my roommate and I visited were grade 2. The ages of the students ranged from 7-11 years old.

We enjoyed interacting with the children and watching the teachers teach the students with different disabilities. The school is very poor and has minimal supplies. But the students are happy.

After lunch we were all put into different classrooms. This classroom was older students with more severe disabilities. The SP-ED students and I sang many songs and even sang Beyoncé with the students. It was a blessing.

The students at the school gave us a learning experience. We want to create a relationship with the students. We would love to implement a simple behavior management plan with these students. There is little to no engagement with the students. They would hit one another and we tried to show them how to keep their hands to themselves and soft touches.

We left the school with tears in our eyes and went to the AOC to reflect about our journey this far.
We have lots of rain today!! It floods like crazy here.
We will spend the rest of the day with our house mothers and relaxing.

Notes from our bus driver, Orain, when driving through Savanna La Mar **
-Jamaicans wear clothes for fashion. When they go to the beach, they don't wear sexy bathing suits. They would wear the sexy pieces to parties.
